I Know

A few years before I wrote this song, I didn't have a clue of what I was going to do with my life. Kandy and I moved to FL so I could try to become a stuntman. After I realized that I wasn't in the shape that I should be in, I got a job at a Nike Factory store in Kissimmee FL.

That's where I met Mitch Carley, a jingle writer for the Kobacker Company an advertising agency in Ohio. As I sold him a pair of sneakers, we started talking about what Mitch did for a living. He mentioned that he was a jingle writer. I told him how interesting that sounded and I mentioned that I had been trying to write a few songs.

He said that he may be able to use my help sometime with a small project or two. So I gave him my phone number. I never expected to hear from Mitch but sure enough, 2 weeks later, he called and asked me to write a jingle for this growing shoe store chain called PicWay. I told him I'd give it a try.

The opportunity came at an extremely busy time. My wife was participating in the Miss Galaxy contest. She was a walk-on that ended up making the finals in the toughest women's fitness contest in the world. So you can see why we were busy.

I had thought up a few ideas for the jingle such as the catch phrase and a few of the lines. But I didn't have the whole thing completed. Mitch called and it took me by surprise. Time seemed to fly by. I dropped the phone to my side and turned to my wife. She told me to sing what ever I had come up with. I started singing away.

Immediately, Mitch said "That's it". The first thing I was ever asked to write, went nation-wide. Soon after that happened, I realized that God had been directing me in the direction of music my whole life.

From singing in prisons and half way houses as a child with the church to singing in the Pocono Boys choir/Singing boys of Pennsylvania. I always sang in my schools show choir and I even did some musicals. The only missing element was the pillar of support that my wife provides. She convinced me that I could do anything with my life and she never discouraged me to try anything. She's always let me truly be myself. In fact, she expected no less. So, now I don't think about the direction my life is headed, I know!
